Private Insurance
Patients are encouraged to review their individual secondary insurance benefits package for detailed information on extended health benefits. The following are general guidelines for each individual therapy:
Chiropractic Care & Active Release Techniques ®
Effective July 1, 2005 changes in the Alberta Health Care regulations allow secondary health benefits to be accessed differently. Albertans with secondary insurance may now be able to use it upfront to help pay for Calgary chiropractic clinic fees, rather than pay those fees themselves.
Regulation changes will allow secondary insurance to cover the patient's portion of chiropractic fees beginning with the first service instead of waiting until the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan annual benefit is exhausted. However, some insurers do have specific requirements written into policies that require Alberta Health Care funds must be fully used prior to access. In these cases, patients must continue to exhaust their Alberta Health benefits as the recent legislative changes do not impact these policies. In the event no such requirement is stated, patients with secondary insurance may now access these benefits immediately.
Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan subsidizes $14.00 per Chiropractic visit, up to the annual benefit of $200, from July 1st to June 30th.
