As a Certified Strength ® Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Dr. Hoover uses his personal training experience in his practice, helping patients incorporate rehabilitation exercises into their daily routine in an enjoyable and easy manner. As a registered Active Release Techniques ® (ART ®) Provider, he also uses this latest type of therapy to treat many spinal and non-spinal conditions.

Karen McInnis, RRT, RAc Karen McInnis
BSc, RRT, RAc

Karen received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Calgary in 1985. She completed further training earning a Respiratory Therapy diploma from SAIT in 1990, where she received the Trudell Award for outstanding academic performance. In 2002, Karen obtained a diploma in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at the Alberta College of Acupuncture and TCM, graduating at the top of her class. Her love of travel and desire to learn more about Chinese Medicine lead her to complete her clinical training of TCM in Hangzhou, China.

Karen has been working in the health care field since 1990, first as a Respiratory Therapist and more recently as a Practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine, thus integrating both western and eastern knowledge into her treatments. She continues to develop her skills and is certified in ear diagnosis and treatment, Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture (non-surgical facelifts) and Japanese moxibustion techniques.

In addition to her clinical work, Karen teaches both eastern and western medical courses at the Canadian Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She also practices and teaches Taoist Tai Chi. The compassion and gentleness embodied in Taoist philosophy is evident in Karen's interaction with her clients.

Appointments can be made with Karen Monday through Friday at Back & Body Health's Downtown Calgary clinic.

RMT

Julie is a graduate of the 2,200-hour program at Foothills College of Massage Therapy, and brings a variety of treatment techniques to Back & Body Health. Her advanced schooling provides her with an in-depth knowledge of the human anatomy, as well as extensive experience in treating a large number of conditions. Julie specializes in therapeutic, pre-natal and relaxation massage.

For the past six years, Julie has been playing both outdoor and indoor field hockey, and even took up umpiring two years ago, when she's not on the field though, you can find Julie on the mountain where she enjoys snowboarding!

Julie is currently working at Back & Body Health on Mondays and Wednesdays through Saturdays (Saturdays by appointment).
