Registered Acupuncturist, Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine
Philippa graduated as a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2010
from the Canadian Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Calgary, and is now practicing at Back & Body Health.
She found her way to Chinese Medicine via a circuitous route, first earning her Aerospace Engineering Degree from University of Toronto in 1992, and then working in the telecommunications industry for several years before coming to the realization that her heart lay in a different direction. Her interest and passion for the disciplines of the East began with her training in Kung-Fu around this time. This eventually evolved into a desire to learn and practice the healing art of the Chinese culture as well: their system of medicine.
Philippa blends her analytical and problem-solving skills together with her understanding of how the body functions from an acupuncture channel point of view to help others regain health and freedom of movement.
Acupuncture essentially removes energetic blockages in the communication pathways between all parts of the body – the brain and nervous system, organs, glands and tissues. Breakdown of this neural, circulatory, biochemical and electrical flow of information results in subpar health: injuries that won’t heal, lack of energy or mental clarity, digestive issues, menstrual irregularities, poor sleep, depression, anxiety or frequently getting ill, to name just a few. In today’s modern lifestyle, the root causes of a stuck pattern of disrupted energy flow are often incompatible diet, stress and emotional imbalance, or physical trauma/injury. Philippa works together with her patients in identifying and correcting these underlying causes, which is part of the treatment protocol and healing process.
Philippa’s treatment days at Back & Body Health are Sunday through Thursday.
